That weekend the cart's wheel also crumbled like a cookie. Despite what I was told when Monday arrived could not park it up at the mission so was forced to part it out. Spent a few days carrying all I could manage to then bought a new cart... kinda hope it's the last time but one thing is clear... they make it expensive to live in the streets, not even homeless services are designed with a goal of eventual independence in mind. Yikes here is that rainstorm...signing off updates for now...

Oh thank goodness! Just the news I need right now.

OKay... if or not it's covid-censorship related there is still weird policing that has been causing problems but turns out I'm not the only activist going through that in these parts... came across an article about this other activist that appears homeless to people...  getting videos about his "God bless homeless vets" reactions... now I had to give up my suitcases when I lost stuff to the crumbly wheel and had chosen to load the cart with decent food instead of pay for new collapsible duffel bags large enough for a wagon or scooter... instead thinking... maybe walk toward Florida to join the other censored people out there? Now I've found this will likely mean I have to go through maybe some of the same problematic cop areas... but at least this provides a clue as to what the ...SHIT...
However do consider what happened in Biloxi serious actually, because there is a dude out there picking fights with men, bothering street women, acting like an agent provocateur does at least... bragging about being allowed to mess with folk... and whether he is paid as  one or not, I don't know.  It has a bad effect either way, so there needs to be a record this problem ignored by police, and I was treated differently I think as a white. Will continue to see what I can file... but bless the heart of this other activist with his cardboard sign... because I was really getting exhausted having to deal with police trying to excite people for no logical reason when I have worked hard to not let people get exploited by bad official behavior into thinking they can't publicly make their own damn medical choices without getting arrested for it. I'm sick of cops and politicians no offense I know the world runs on both... but these problems should not have landed at the feet of the public for sheer arrogance... and I just do need a break from people who do not know the effect of themselves.
I may not get one... heads up and a warning... like the original bullshit about sharing the vax consult call with you this shit has nothing to do with illegal activity or actual law... it's all about the power-tripping to make us feel dependent upon their good graces!

Of course as I found a tourism marker erected after Katrina... it seems there are even more obvious ways that officials blithely give the area a non-inclusive look... the below signs are from D'iberville... to hear any person, mother, even a historical person described so coarsely brought to mind the way a certain bathroom was coarsely 'cleaned' in nearby Biloxi.
I don't mean to say it's all a bad area, have encountered a lot of mixed groups of people very obviously on good terms despite class/race differences... but whoever manages the P.R. for these cities doesn't seem to be with those groups, instead it feels like the people around here face being manipulated/pressured to consider themselves different in uncomfortable ways. Something is wrong and when the wrongness comes from officials it is no favor to whatever harmony is enjoyed anyhow. I'm learning a lot about the ways in which dissatisfied people express their powers to their own detriment I think. This must seep into a workplace... might be those closest to it are too used to ignoring to realize where the rot comes from.

Uh... Needs a curtain?

This one had me wonder for it's a lovely thing to find an outdoor public shower... if not far from a prohibited bathing restroom... but I couldn't help but ask myself what exactly housed folks have against un-housed privacy.... But it's location is actually upon the boardwalk so curtain or not... poor or yacht-owner it would have been best placed where greywater can drain rather than directly above the sea. I guess the sign should read "rinse"... it runs fresh water over salty people down into the sea.
It may seem there are a lot of signs pictured here... but I've not had time to photograph them all and am still missing some of the funniest... there is a lot of angst against the poor here for a gambling town... written down in official post.

But the cheering thing is... even here in the midst of efforts to dehumanize... people resist that rot. It may surround them, it may depress them, but there are still people treating others like the humans we all are. The south if full of survivors... I remember the mass funerals every year for homeless people freezing to death... and I am glad I moved. I have as a visibly deformed person never laid eyes on as many visibly deformed people either... there's community here,  back there either people like me were being successfully pressured to hide/alter (like the plastic surgery I had to argue against having forced on me at 14) or that kind of disabled like the homeless just not surviving well. So take it with a grain of salt north... when you approve yourself by what is elsewhere... cause struggles are everywhere. Can we all use this to self-improve?
Yeah I think we can improve if we are willing to acknowledge that getting along is up to ourselves socially and not just because folk are different than us. People are treated differently and thus react differently. Some of this knowledge we will always lack, but there are some ways to experience what others do and learn what is environmental when you stop and think.
I am learning more about unhoused life than I could have studying the rest of my life about supposed homelessness. As a housed person during the pandemic I understood that even being formerly homeless had not given me knowledge of what occurs sleeping rough. I'm learning to fix my own mistakes as I go along and I think that's priceless. So yeah... I think there is hope when open to that  kind of negotiation with one's community.

Just a quick note stub for now to say I've been traveling on towards Florida... updates may lag awhile. Still working on several projects. Meanwhile big plastic cart wheels already couldn't take the concrete so have replaced these with some smaller substitute wheels and hardware I'm still seeing if will hold.
Good news is I think 'Shirley' is ok but I can understand she's had enough. It's up to me to carry the complaint now which I mean to update and notarize. Have faxed Biloxi police for a complaint form last Sunday after finally finding their fax number but my virtual fax is still waiting a reply this Wednesday.

Have got the new complaint & update notarized here in Grand Bay AL today 8-24-23 (added above near the old complaint I didn't see I needed to notarize) will have to mail out tomorrow as it's after 5pm. Then on towards Florida! Library drawing the blinds closed here... gotta go it's closing. -later & be well people.
Well, there is after hours wifi here they said I can use so I spoke too soon... still in case I don't get sleep tonight I  might daynap after a bit. I will be prioritizing travel over the updates for a while. Have had bad luck with the carts so am on my third one and hoping for no more wheel issues... has taken time... no other serious things have happened thusfar. Whew!

Just a note to say not done with these old sections yet... I am simply moving too fast to finish as much  things online as I'd like... Got more I'd like to post.... working on... still some things for the folks back in Biloxi.

​Rushed right through Gulf Hills and Ocean Springs too... it's a different world when you are un-housed and I needed to make it safely to the Harbor Freight store to look at their wheels anyway... walked about 18 hours with few sit down breaks in between in which I barely involuntarily nodded off only to wake up soon as my smartphone smacked the ground (was reading maps and playing 'solitare' just to stay awake while at rest). I went to stores on the way but didn't find anything that fit on the cart either... Absolutely crashed when I finally got to Gautier and was still trying to keep rolling...

A glitzy fashion store window display in Ocean Springs reads "The world needs who you were made to be" I couldn't help but contrast the affirmations given to those with money to the plethora of unwelcoming signs posted for those without by this region's local business community. Affirmations for profit... are for those who can afford them while they are paying for it.
(Who says you won't have mechanical troubles if you don't drive?) I looked for replacement wheels that would hold up in the streets but couldn't find any that fit. The ones I did find began to break down. Had to get a whole 'nother ride. Am hoping it lasts 'til Florida. Sorry I didn't get as many pictures as I'd ordinarily want to take and couldn't check-in update as frequently as before. Sometimes it's the 'small' stuff in the streets.

Similarly, I rushed right through Moss Point and Orange Grove, MS by night... was on my way to Alabama... with Florida, home of the censored... ahead of me...
 Gautier had been a good place to be for me if I was just trying to help myself off the streets I would have stayed there... never saw (long tried to avoid run-ins with) any social authorities but the people were all very kind to the homeless that I met. 
Sorry I couldn't stay but I am still trying to get the message of resisting our exploitation heard for I wouldn't have heard if other censored people are struggling similarly with the vaccine equity by holding out on the vax... before I at least know that I have been heard... so I have to keep trying.
I promised everyone if I needed food I'd take it but asked them to give to someone more in need while in Gautier... kept my word and finally caved a bit and took some food off people out here on the coast with Idalia's uncertainty on the way as replacing all the carts had left me carrying little change. I refused to take cash.
I respect that others out there do need to panhandle, but I am lucky enough to have disability that while not enough to be housed pays for other needs. I did not give up my apartment to be supported on the street but to learn more as an activist about the struggles here and how to improve and understand better.

Boundaries are for the young and old... free speech can help defend these rights to ourselves.

Soon as the cart got rolling I was off again... Putting distance on and working online when I could.  Think I will soon be on the FL side of AL...

Got to talking about the problems with government censorship vs. respect for our deciding what happens to our own bodies. Librarian in Gautier wanted kids to know about this book... "My Body Belongs to Me" by Larissa H. Rhone & Tina N. Foster agreed might need a more complex one for adults and our relationship to the state. Anyway this site is for adults but if you got kids this is a good starter for tough conversations about his-her-their rights.
